Healing the Broken Places

For Women Healing from Domestic Abuse

Written by Kate Johnson, this information rich 12 chapter book is an essential resource for those seeking healing from domestic abuse or domestic violence. It is also an excellent curriculum for teaching others about domestic abuse in a group setting.

Tackle challenging issues such as “Is it Biblical to separate and seek safety?” You will also learn about the debilitating effects of abuse, steps to healthy forgiveness, why it’s important to grieve and much more.

Counseling Services

Dr. Kate Johnson is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Certified Telehealth Practitioner in the State of Florida and can provide counseling services to people located in Florida. Hopefully soon, an Interstate Compact, which is in the works, will be available to provide services anywhere in the US, but for now, it is only in Florida.

From Kate:

One of my life verses is Genesis 50:20. It is the account of Joseph and his interaction with his brothers who had previously wanted to kill him but instead sold him into slavery. They are standing before him begging him to let them live and show forgiveness. His response was “You planned something bad for me, but God produced something good from it, in order to save the lives of many people, just as he’s doing today.” (CEB). He was freed from slavery and now was able to free others from their bondage. How about you? What keeps you in bondage or a slave? Counseling might help.

Many times counselors say they treat the whole person, but then often leave out the spiritual component of the person. Or they want people to change their behaviors without addressing our thoughts which drive those actions. I believe in holistic counseling, meaning we are mind, body, and spirit, and therefore all must be addressed. What good is it to change your behavior and not change your mind as well? Or change your mind but not address the spiritual being that we are? No, all must be address in a holistic manner, so I use trauma-informed Cognitive-Behavioral-Spiritual Therapy to assist in the healing process.

Through getting to know you and your needs and desires, as well as what may be keeping you stuck or in bondage, together we can come up with a plan to help you achieve your goals.
