Worry is at an all-time high. I’m worried. You’re worried. Maybe about the same things like isolation and viruses. Maybe about different things like food on the table or paying bills. Safety? Abuse? Boundaries? They are all things we worry about. If you’ve experienced trauma, like me, maybe it’s about keeping control because controlling your environment means you will be safer.
However, there comes a point when worry overtakes us and nothing we do seems to stop it. I’ve been there, too. It’s in those times that we should stop and look at where we’ve come. It’s a time to remember our strengths. We have been strong. I have! You have! But if our strength is sidelined because of worry, it robs us of the strength and peace of the day. As Corrie ten Boom states, “it does not empty tomorrow of its sorrow; it empties today of its strength.”
Take a moment to look at all you are worrying about. Do you have any control over the issue? If so, put into practice what you can to feel better. If you can’t do anything about it, put worry aside. It will do you no good. Satan has no better victory than when he can steal your peace and strength. Don’t let him do it. Stay strong in the day.
“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” Matthew 6:34
